Double roller blinds on two windows: a black blockout half down in front of a white sunscreen, installed by Crown Curtain and Blind

What they are

Two blinds on one bracket.

A double roller blind, also called a dual roller, is two roller blinds mounted together on one double bracket: usually a see-through sunscreen and a solid blockout. Each blind has its own chain or motor, so you can lower one, the other, or neither.

By day, drop the sunscreen to cut the glare and heat and keep the view. At night, drop the blockout for a dark room and full privacy. It’s the simplest way to get both from one window, without curtains.

  • A sunscreen and a blockout on one window
  • Each blind works on its own
  • Inside or over the window frame
  • Chain or motorised, both on one remote

How it works

One window, three ways

Each blind has its own chain or motor, so the same window does three different jobs.

DaySunscreen downGlare and heat cut, the view kept, privacy from outside by day.
NightBlockout downDark enough to sleep in, and fully private once the lights are on.
AnytimeBoth upBoth blinds roll away at the top and the window is clear.

Good to know

Four things we check for you

Window depth

Two blinds need a little more depth than one. If the frame is deep enough they sit neatly inside it; if not, we fit them over the frame. We check at the measure.

Pick your pair

Most people choose a sunscreen and a blockout. You can also pair a light-filtering fabric with a blockout, in matching or contrasting colours.

Chain or motor

Each blind has its own chain, or its own motor if you go motorised, and both can run from one remote or app.

Neater than curtains

Everything sits at the window, so they suit bedrooms where furniture is close to the wall and rooms with no space for curtains to stack.

Double roller blinds — your questions answered

Straight answers before you book.

Two roller blinds on one double bracket, also called a dual roller. Usually one is a sunscreen, which you can see through and which cuts glare, and the other is a blockout for darkness. Each one goes up and down on its own.

Often, yes, if the frame or recess is deep enough for two rolls. If it isn’t, we fit them over the frame or on the wall above it. We measure the depth at your free measure and tell you before you order.

Most people choose a sunscreen with a blockout. You can also pair a light-filtering fabric with a blockout. The two can match or contrast, for example a white sunscreen with a charcoal blockout.

Yes. Each blind gets its own motor, and both can run from one remote, a wall switch or an app.

Double rollers are neat, sit inside the window and usually cost less. Double curtains are softer and warmer and suit big windows and sliding doors. Both give you daylight with privacy by day and darkness at night.

Usually 2–3 weeks from your free in-home measure to installation. We confirm the timing for your order when we visit.
